Is the Bible a fable and Israel just an Allegory? Then lets not worry about that Armageddon thing.

Is there any truth to what we read in the bible? Can we determine which parts of it are true and which parts are only fabrications to make an allegorical point?

Should we stop believing the bible is divinely inspired? Is it just a lot of allegory and a collection of stories that are intended to teach a message of hope and courage?

What about the nation of Israel? It came into existence in modern history after some six to seven million Jews were killed during the tragedy of the second World War. The nations felt pity for them and returned them to the land in which they were birthed many thousands of years ago. That’s just what the allegorical stories said would happen.

Isreal is born

The discarded and abandoned land of Palestine that no one wanted was now to be the home of a woeful collection of war-torn and homeless people. When they did return to the land and become officially declared to be a nation then enemies would surround them and try to destroy them. That also is just how the allegorical stories in the bible read. When we read the bible we can see that enemies will  surround Israel and seek to totally eliminate it and kill man woman and child.

But if the Bible is only allegory and fanciful stories that teach about overcoming difficult odds to somehow come to live in peace with your enemies, then Israel has no need to be concerned about the terrible fate the bible says is in store in the future.

We can read in the bible about this tiny nation being in the middle of a huge war called Armageddon at the end of the ages.

Is this just fanciful imagery that a collection of writers put together to teach us to love others and to be nice to our neighbor?

Are we expected to believe and trust that the words are actual truth?

If the Bible is true then the surprising nation of Israel should be very concerned about its future. It is currently fighting for survival as it is surrounded by enemies that openly express their hatred for even the youngest of the Jewish people. Killing a young baby Jewish boy or girl is an honorable thing for many in the Muslim faith. They consider it to be a part of their duty to purge the land of Palestine of any Jew.

In the bible Israel doesn’t win out in the end.

God does.

Israel will be overwhelmed by their enemies and nearly destroyed. That may come as a surprise to many who believe that Israel will conquer all the foes who come against it.

Let’s take a look at the book of Zechariah that tells a shocking story of destruction on the tiny nation of Israel in the end of days. Remember if it’s only allegorical than there is nothing to be concerned about. Go on about your business.

Zechariah 13:8-9 “And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, says the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.”

This is God Almighty saying that the nation of Israel will receive a stunning attack that will wipe out 2/3’s of the population. Only one-third will remain. They will not believe and trust in the Almighty win the war starts and when only the third remains they will call upon Him and declare their trust in Him.

Zechariah 14: 1-9

  1. “Behold, the day of the Lord comes, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

  2. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

  3. Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

  4. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

  5. And you shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yes, ye shall flee, like as you fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

  6. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark.

  7. But it shall be one day which shall be known to the Lord, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

  8. And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

  9. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.”

Okay, if all of that is allegory than we don’t have to worry about that Armageddon thing. The above description is one of many places in the Bible that we can read detailed descriptions of what we can expect if that war is real.

Is it real?

What do you believe?

I stand on the side of belief. I trust the Word of God is true…all of it.

Do you dare to make that claim or are you one of the many who chooses to believe only part of it? How do we know when to call it allegory?
